I find the best way to dodge missiles is to not be there when they explode and my second tip on Dodging missiles is to kill the other guy before he fires them.

Charge into them... And in the last moment (you'll need practice to find it) change direction, by slightly (up to 30 degrees) going in opposite direction of missiles (in case they are High - Maneuver ones). They'll end (relatively) far behind you. And use boost while you do this (default W)! Twisted Evil

NOTE, LONG RANGE MISSILES: Use boost when they move close (around two distances away). This is tricky, because you can be overwhelmed with sheer numbers of missiles fired and short distance between them. You can take them out with gunpod, but it will slow your advance and smart opponent will increase distance by using reverse... With little patience you will be able to approach him just enough to shoot, usually Rolling Eyes

The biggest problem I am having with dodging missiles is reading my hud...knowing were the missiles are and what direction they are traveling...once I get that part down I think I should have the techniques.

everyone has a different style to dodge missiles but the most important thing is to use your HUD.

missiles will have a round circle around them . when 5 or less missiles are fired at you , you can shoot them down ( gun must be set on missile track) .

any more than 5 missiles and its time to dodge!!

the best way to do that is keep those circles on your hud behind you .

when a missile is close the circle will get big and you will hear a warning tone use your after burner in burst and go the opposite direction of the missile .

keep using the after burner in short burst to dodge the opposite direction of incoming missiles .

here are some videos by Torime from Japan he is one of the original ruff necks of Macross VOXP study his style and you will understand how he dodges missiles.

just remember dont forget your offence! if you spend too much time dodging missiles you will never get to fire missles at your enemy.

thats one of the cool things about this game you must have a balance of offence and defence to be a successfull ACE.

oh and practice makes perfect!
