AT this time there is no complete english translation Patch, but all you have to do is Download and print out these TRANSLATION GUIDES and they will help you play the game...

How did you get that screen to translate? What file did you replace? Is there a patch you made just for that screen?

The original Game was called Macross VO this game was very unstable online and did not have all the features that Macross VOXP has BUT someone made an Inglish Patch (version 1.14) for Macross VO , unfortunatly the Patch does not work for Macross VOXP.

the print outs are based off the Patch.

Razor,

See if you can get me that patch for the original VO game. If I can see how that was written, I might be able to come up with an english patch for VOXP by changing the coding in that patch. Also if you have a copy of that game for download as well so I can see the files on that game (original VO), I will also be able to compare the differences the between VO and VOXP writing code. I just fixed my sound card with Vista, this shouldn't be any different.

Thanks!

Hi Shadowdemon!

ok here is a link to download Macross VO...

http://www.box.net/shared/72tc78b48k

it should have the original game, patches and MODs from the original release of this game way back in 2000

it will only be up for a week and then I will remove it due to my low Sharing Bandwidth.

good luck and I hope this helps get us that Translation for VOXP.

Okay Razor, I got the file. I will be working tirelessly on this. I have been trying to change the coding format on VOXP from the original coding to ANSI but this disables the mcr.exe file but it does allow the errand.exe file to run somewhat. It goes to a black screen but then crashes. I think the problem is that the game is coded in Japanese. I will evaluate the copy of VO to see what they did to correct the problem with that game and try and duplicate it for VOXP. It is gonna be another LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG Night!

I was able to find which files were moded to english by the VO mod and was able to move them over to VOXP without any hang up EXCEPT the language IP mod won't install now! Still the menus are not in english but much more stable on my computer. I feel I am going in the right directions with this. 2 am Merry Christmas and Good night for now! Twisted Evil

I got something working. I am not sure if it is VO or VOXP as VOXP is an upgrade of the game and the only change is in two of the files that are linked to the .exe files for the respective games. One is the armament.dac file and the other is the machine.dac file. I have been trying to reverse engineer the code in the .exe english patch for VO but cannot find a compiler, YET, that can decompile the code that I need to look at the differences so I know what to do to VOXP.

The good news is that I was able to shift the .exe english file over from VO to VOXP along with replacing VOXP's .dac files with VO's .dac files plus opening the .exemanifest file with notepad/wordpad and changing the version from 1.1.2.0 to 1.1.4.0 and it all worked. The lobby file stayed upgraded to 1.2 and worked. I think this file deals with server connection as well as other things. I tried to entice three people into a game tonight that I could see active through Hamachi but all were doing WHATEVER? I guess they were not interested in help beta testing this new hybrid VO/VOXP mod! SCOT BERNARD<SORRAL<MOTOR SOMETHING OR ANOTHER!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, until I can decompile the english patch from VO, I am stuck unless I can figure out something else.

SO what really is the difference between VO and VOXP and how will affect game play on Hamachi?

Second, who made the english patch for VO?

I need to know both ASAP Razor.

Thanks.

Hang in there guys. Everyday I get closer to an answer. If I can decompile the code for one thing. I MIGHT EVEN BE ABLE TO TRANSLATE THE WHOLE F-ING GAME. WITH THE SOUND THING FIXED WE WOULD HAVE A TOTAL ENGLISH FUNCTIONING VERSION SO HELP ME OUT HERE AND JUMP ON THOSE TWO QUESTIONS FOR ME! Twisted Evil

ok i did a lil diging and it looks like 3 guys from Macross World Forums did the english translation for VO

"This translation patch is brought to us by Shawn, Lance, and Ukyou. It is now based on v1.14 of the game. The options, missions and equipments config screens as well as some other texts are translated."

VO vs VOXP

"Differences:
1) Macross VOXP have rearrange the beginning animation , only rearrange no more or less.
2) Macross VOXP have a bunch of bugs fix, ex. better hit & miss count, fix pixel problem, window XP run time problem and more.
3) Joystick control option in Macross VOXP enable you to pick every key as option which VO doesn't.
4) Better network play in VOXP then VO (crash quite often when too many ppl are playing ~6ppl)
5) VOXP also have 2 add on skin for your game play. (VF-1D & VT-1 'Super Ostrich' )
6) "Flare" option durring game play to dodge enemy missles.

Similarities:
1) Pretty much the same game, VOXP just a bug fix verison for windows XP with some add on.
2) Same amount of levels and graphics"

Still working on it. I have posted a request for contact info for those three guys over on Macross World Forums. You should see it right under your last post on the VO thread. Very Happy

I will try new decompilers but I hope no code was lost when they compiled the original.

Like I said, all the files are interchangeable except the .dac files and the .exe files. Where ever the .exe file goes the respective .dac files must go, EXCEPT for the IP mod.

Can't f-ing decompile that either. Do you know who made that one? The one that translates the Internet Game dialog box?

That might help as well.

I want to track everything done. Since you gave me VO I have definitely been going in the right direction. It's just a matter of time. How much is the question? Evil or Very Mad

Thanks Razor! Very Happy

I think I have it figured out. All they did was translate the strings of what the commands called to be displayed on screen. I can see it on the string portion of the decompiler.

What I cannot figure out is why they just stopped there? Question

So now I have to compare 1.14(VO) to 1.2 (VOXP) and make sure I translate and modify the right strings. Sounds simple but I have found with the 1.2 to VOXP update the strings are slightly different in configuration so I am going to try and use the IP Internet EXE file english mod for reference.

Time consuming, but it should work. Key word, should, if they didn't monkey around with any command structure of the program. Nice thing is, I have an un moded version and moded version of all the EXE files to compare.

Imagine comparing four novels that are the same but have only one or two sentences changed throughout the whole novel and you get the gist of what I am dealing with.

But like I said, it is just a matter of time, and experimenting to complete this project. I would also like to try this mod via Hamachi once it is done. I would appreciate participation from one and all. Just to make sure any changes I make do not slow down ANYTHING.

I am sure I will get everyone's support. Think of it as a Beta of sorts.

Hold on, it is just a matter of time. Just be patient. I am going to start switching the strings of code tonight, possibly test, maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow, pending snags. Hopefully by Jan 1 this Mofo will be done. It has been hard working away from home, but adversity only makes us stronger.

I will keep you guys updated. I know I hate it when people leave me in the dark.

It is just a matter of time. Twisted Evil

P.S. I love the fanwork by bluegazer of Lisa Hayes. I always had a thing for her. I would save the image of her in the shirt and knickers on my desktop if my wife would not castrate me! LOL

Keep it up guys, Robotech will be right back!
